Salary growth slows on abundant talent pool

Companies in Saudi Arabia will only increase salaries by the low single digits this year, as an influx of candidates from Europe and North America creates competition for jobs.

Sectors such as energy, real estate and construction, technology, hospitality and aviation are hiring as the kingdom proceeds with Vision 2030 programme to diversify its economy beyond oil.

Other sectors attracting jobseekers are consulting, engineering and manufacturing, and banking and finance, according to recruitment consultants. They are now inundated with candidates keen to move to the kingdom along with their families, a stark contrast to about seven or eight years ago when recruiters had to sell the advantages for professionals to relocate to Saudi Arabia.

Employers are also hiring Saudi citizens as there is a major push to get them into key positions within government and semi-government organisations.

Candidates are being offered all-in salaries as the large expatriate packages including allowances for housing, cars and education, do not exist any more in Saudi Arabia, recruiters say.

Starting salaries

Starting salaries range from 7,000 Saudi riyals ($1,866) to 140,000 riyals ($37,331) per month, averaging 32,000 riyals. The industry with the highest average starting salary is Property & Construction, while Procurement & Supply Chain has the lowest.

Salary Distribution 2025

There are more than 400 recorded jobs in the 2025 edition

More than 60% of the jobs have a minimum wage between 10,000 riyals - 40,000 riyals monthly.

Only 2% of the jobs have a starting salary of more than 100,000 riyals monthly.

At the industry level, Engineering & Manufacturing is the industry where more than 15 per cent of the reported jobs earn less than 10,000 riyals.

Only three industries have jobs with starting salaries of more than 100,000 riyals: Legal, Property & Construction and Banking & Financial Services

Which industry has the most job titles reported?

Technology has 64 reported job titles (about 15%), the highest number. The lowest is in Human Resources, with 18 ( about 4%).

Expected Salary Range

How much should I ask for?

The Expected Salary Range (ESR) represents the difference between a given job's maximum and minimum monthly salary. It can be considered a measure of how much someone can ask for in a specific role, specialisation, or industry, starting from the average minimum salary.

The industries where workers have a wider salary range are:

  • Finance & Accounting: 25,000 riyals - 55,000 riyals
  • Legal: 50,000 riyals - 80,000 riyals
  • Property & Construction: 60,000 riyals - 90,000 riyals
